We are experienced

Gail Reardon, director of Taking Off for the last seven years, has over 30 years of experience working with students. Working in both the private sector and with a variety of non-profits, Reardon was responsible for the design, development, and implementation of various educational programs. She has also worked as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LICSW) both at home and abroad. Throughout her career, the common link in all of Reardon's pursuits is her dedication to help people of all ages to take responsibility for their lives. Taking Off is a logical extension of this lifelong commitment.

We are service oriented

Taking Off is more than an information and referral service: we do not just send you information. We know that developing and implementing a well thought out plan for time away from the classroom is a highly personalized process. Accordingly, Taking Off invests the time and effort to help clients identify interests, evaluate priorities, and secure opportunities. We follow through on all the details that make for a successful and rewarding journey.

We understand the issues

Taking Off was founded by a counseling professional with broad experience in the field of alternative learning. We understand the issues of students (and parents) who choose the option of taking off. We work together with families to develop a plan that takes everyone's concerns into account. At Taking Off we are committed to finding affordable options that are not only appropriate to the family budget and safe, but also address individual needs.

We are resourceful

With Taking Off, the client not only has access to our extensive database of over 2,500 global opportunities, but also to a global network of professionals who have the ability to find exciting experiences based on specific requests. Whether Taking Off for a summer, a year, or beyond, the client is constantly supported by an organization eager to take on new challenges and equipped with the resources to do so.
